On 17th October, 1972, in St. Joseph, Missouri, U. S., Marshall Bruce Mathers Jr. And Deborah Rae Mathers welcomed their son Marshall Bruce Mathers III into this world. He is of English, Scottish, German, German Swiss, Polish, and Luxembourgian ancestory. Eminem has three step-siblings: a step-brother Michael and a step-sister Sarah, who are his father’s children, and a step-brother Nathan Kane Samara, who is his mother’s son. Eminem’s parents were in a band Daddy Warbucks before their separation. During his childhood, Eminem was often bullied. His mother once filed a lawsuit against the school, because of Eminem’s severely injured head. The lawsuit was dismissed because the Macomb County, Michigan judge said the school were immune from lawsuits. After spending three years in ninth grade due to poor grades and absence, he dropped out of Lincoln High School at the age of 17.

Eminem used to work several jobs to help his mother pay the bills. His rapping career started when he was 14. He used to rap with high-school friend Mike Ruby, and even had freestyle rap battles with fellow rapper Proof. At the Hip-Hop Shop on West 7 Mile, there were an open mic contests, which they attended. Even though Eminem was struggling in a predominantly black industry, the audiences seemed to really like him.
