History About Bangui

Bangui which is the capital city of Central African Republic was founded at the end of the 19th century , specifically in 1889 , when the Central African Republic was not yet independent and was the main meeting point for foreign, especially French, expeditionary.

The city was developed around the military posts established by France in the period between 1889 and 1890 . It was the administrative center of the French territory of Ubangui-Chari, and continued as capital when the country reached its independence, like Central African Republic, in 1960 . The city was the scene of numerous protests and riots in the late 1970s , during the reign of Jean-Bédel Bokassa ( Bokassa I )
