Today we will tell you today is national what day.  The United Nations (UN) General Assembly proclaimed May 29 as International Day of Blue Helmets as a tribute to all the men and women who served in peacekeeping operations because of their exceptional level of professionalism, dedication and courage and to honor the memory of those who lost their lives in the service of peace (resolution 57/129 of 11 December 2002). She called on all Member States, United Nations agencies, non-governmental organizations and individuals to celebrate the day as appropriate.
